Four quick checks at the counter or when a delivery arrives tell you whether a tin is genuine and fresh.
Takes one minute. Do these checks at the counter, or when a delivery arrives, before the tins go into your store.
1. The seal
Check that the lid seal is intact and has not been re-pressed.
2. Batch number and best-before date
Every tin carries a batch number and a best-before date. Match them against the invoice.
3. FSSAI licence number
Every brand prints its FSSAI licence number on the pack. A tin without one should not be sold.
4. The seller and the invoice
Buy from a licensed, GST-registered seller and take a GST invoice that names the brand, pack and batch. You can check our licences on the quality page.

Questions
Can I check purity by smell or colour?
No. Grain, colour and smell vary with the milk and the method, so they cannot prove purity. Buy sealed packs from licensed brands through a licensed seller, and check the label against the invoice.
